Kara Dawn (Carlisle) Stewart, 39, of Lompoc, CA died Saturday, January 5, 2013 due to complications stemming from her Multiple Sclerosis and Progressive Multifocal Leukoencephalopathy.
She was born November 12, 1973 in Richland, Washington. Kara graduated from Kamiakin High School in Kennewick, Washington in 1992 and went on to attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. She married Caleb Stewart in 1994 in the Portland, Oregon LDS Temple.
Kara was a greatly devoted wife and mother. Kara's greatest love in life was being a mother; she found her purest joy in raising her children.
Kara is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in many capacities in the Relief Society, Young Women's Program and the Primary Program. Though her body was giving out on her, Kara's dedication to her faith gave her the strength and courage to face the last year of her life with a smile on her face. She brought light and life everywhere she went. It was impossible to know Kara and not be touched by her infectious optimism . . . she continues to inspire.
Kara is survived by her husband, Caleb Stewart and their four children: Austin, Ashley, Joshua and Alyssa; her father Doug (Laura) Carlisle of Sandy, Utah, and mother, Lori (William) Snyder of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by her grandfather, Johnny (Velma) Carlisle of Richland, Washington, and her grandmother, Vada Burden (Idaho Falls, Idaho). She is also survived by four siblings.
Services will be held Friday, January 11th at the LDS Church, 1312 W Prune Ave. in Lompoc. The viewing will be at 1PM, Memorial Service from 2-3PM.
A special thanks goes to her Mother-in-Law, Linda Stewart, and all who helped care for Kara and the Stewart family over this past year. The outpouring of love and service has been overwhelming.
