Karen was born on September 13 ^, 1951, and passed away in Santa Barbara on July 20, 2021, at the age of 69 surrounded by her immediate family.   Her parents were Phyllis and Eric Steil.  An Air-Force brat, she was born in Oceanside, California.

Karen was an extraordinary human.  She was the epitome of courage and strength.  Her love was unconditional, and she cherished everyone fortunate enough to be a part of her life.  Her ability to transform lives without trying was astonishing.  Her beauty was stunning and ageless.  Karen had the spirit of a warrior.  Her smile was radiant and her laugh contagious.

Karen's life will be remembered by her loving daughters Kim Jablonski and Kelly Sigala of Lompoc, with four grandchildren: Lizzy, Makenzie, Landon, and Courtney.  Her three siblings: Patty Ababon, Renee Sandoval, and Eric "Ricky" Steil, and numerous nephews and nieces.  Her stepmother Suzanne Stafki-Steil, as well as many great and life-long friends.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, August 6, 2021, at 11 a.m., at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.  Following by a reception lunch in the gazebo at Beattie Park.  In lieu of flowers please donate to her one of her two favorite charities, St Jude's Children's Hospital and Wounded Warrior Project.
