Karen Diane Jackson, 71 of Lompoc, went to be with the Lord Sunday, October 31, 2021, with her children by her side at Lompoc Valley Medical Center.
Karen was born on August 20, 1950, to Harold John and Betty Ann Watson Sr. In Belleville, Illinois.
In January 1969 she met the Love of her life Larry G. Jackson Sr. on a blind date. They were married on August 2, 1969. They celebrated 43 years before he passed in 2012.
She was a homemaker after marriage but worked as a pretzel twister from age 12-17. She often talked about baking in a nearby bakery as a young girl. When she and her family moved to Lompoc in June 1987, she was a teacher at Riverview Christian School. Karen enjoyed many things in her spare time. She would crochet or sew many projects. She enjoyed reading, playing internet games, or watching Shirley Temple movies she had seen a dozen times. She also enjoyed watching Little House on the Prairie or the Waltons. She loved listening to music. Among her favorites was Elvis, Gospel, or oldies. She was sometimes called an animal whisperer due to the many animals wild or tame that loved her. Most of all, she was devoted to her late husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family. This included family camping trips and holiday gatherings. Family was very important to her. Making sure everyone had a relationship with Jesus was what mattered most. She would attend church, read her bible, and pray for everyone she knew. Everyone who knew her would say she loved Jesus and her family. Karen was a bright light with an amazing smile. She was a beautiful person inside and out. She was kind, loving, and generous. She had a positive impact on all who met her. She was a gentle peacekeeper. She leaves behind her legacy, a great example of a wonderful wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was loved by so many and will be missed greatly.
