Obituary

Katherine Grant of Lompoc died Tuesday, September 22, 2009, at the age of 86.

Katherine was born May 17, 1923, in Ogden, Utah to William and Katherine Poulter. She was raised and educated in Southern California graduating from Los Angeles High School in 1941, and USC with a bachelor's degree in fine arts in 1945. She started her family in 1947, with her marriage to Davis B. Grant.

Katherine was skilled homemaker and talented artist. She worked for many years as a dental assistant. Her proudest achievement was the raising of her family of seven children.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she served in numerous callings in her local wards, in the Los Angeles temple, and as a missionary in Germany.


Formerly of Torrance, she was a longtime resident of Solvang. She moved to Lompoc earlier this year

She is survived by her sons and their wives, Brad and JoAnn Grant of Torrance, Ron and Chris Grant of Watkinsville, Georgia, Barton and Karen Grant of Saratoga Springs, Utah, Alan and Becky Grant of Lompoc, and Greg and Lucilla Grant of Lompoc, her daughter and her husband Elizabeth and David Hardy of Kenmore, Washington, daughter-in-law and son-in-law Debbie and Tom Cooper of Solvang, 33 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Davis in 2006, her son Glen in 2003, her sister Ruth Scoville and brother Irvin Poulter.

The visitation will be Friday, September 25, from 4-7 pm in the chapel of the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary in Lompoc, with the funeral service Saturday, September 26, at 10 am at the Solvang chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Ballard.
