Obituary

Kathleen (Kathy) Deanne Wall, age 74, of Lompoc, California died of complications related to liver disease on Thursday February 23, 2012 at UCLA Ronald Reagan Hospital. Kathy was born on August 23, 1937 in Milwaukee Wisconsin and grew up in the country as the only child of Erwin and Joan Kuks.
At 18, she joined the United States Marine Corps where she met her husband of 55 years, Jonathan Dow Wall. She and Jon were married on January 26, 1957, in a little Catholic church in San Diego, California called the Church of Immaculate Conception. Although she had lived in Lompoc for the past 35 years, Jon and Kathy also lived in many other cities, including Milwaukee, San Diego, Sacramento, Phoenix, Twenty-nine Palms, South Hackensack, and Wrentham. Throughout their married life, Kathy and Jon travelled all over the world and enjoyed spending time with their children, grandchildren, and many friends. Kathy, a life-long learner, was very proud to have earned her Associates Degree in Liberal Arts from Allan Hancock College in 1982.
Kathy is survived by her four children (Raylene, Kimberly, Mark, and Nickolette), her four grandchildren (Amanda, Carson, Rylan, and Haely), her mother, Joan Kuks (also of Lompoc), and her many friends. Kathy was quick with a quip and loved sewing, crafting, singing, dancing, traveling, going to the theatre, and laughing with her friends and family. She was a small business owner and, along with her husband Jon, co-owned and managed South Coast Phoenix Computers here in Lompoc. Kathy was also a lifetime member of the Women Marines Association, the Women of the Moose, and the American Legion Post 125. In the past several years, she was an avid bridge player involved with the local ACBL (Unit 528). She enjoyed competitive bridge and acted as treasurer for a number of years. Kathy had also volunteered her time at one point for the Lompoc Museum and the Western Spaceport Museum because she always enjoyed being helpful, meeting new people, and learning something new every day.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Lompoc Elks Lodge on East Ocean Avenue on Thursday March 1, 2012 between the hours of 1pm and 4pm. Please stop by and share your memories with her family and other friends. If interested, you may donate, in her name, to her favorite charity: Spectrum Ministries at PO Box 17447 in San Diego, California 92177-7447.
