Kathleen P. MacKenzie

April 25, 1933 - April 16, 2023

Kathleen MacKenzie passed away peacefully in her home on April 16, 2023, at the age of 89.   She was born in Belvedere, Illinois.

Kitty, as we all knew her by, graduated from the University of Maryland.  She was a USAF wife for 28 years and often moved the family on her own while her husband was deployed elsewhere.  She has lived in Lompoc since 2000.  She was an active member of her community and her church.  She sang in the church choir and with the Master Chorale.  She volunteered for many years at VIVA cat rescue, as cats were her love.  She was an avid quilter and collected material from all across the United States while traveling in their RV.  She was blessed to have traveled all over the world and visited every continent except the Antarctica.  She taught school for many years in several different states and Europe.  She was always deeply concerned for those who were less fortunate around the world.

Kitty is preceded by death by her father Arthur Patrick, mother Hazel Patrick, and brother Tom Patrick.  She is survived by her husband of 68 years retired USAF Col. James Mackenzie, her son Bruce MacKenzie, daughter Alisa Fording, grandchildren Shawnte Upequi, Brittany Brown, Ryan Holguin, and six great-grandchildren.

She touched so many lives and was loved by so many.  She will be deeply missed.

Celebration of life to be held Saturday, April 29 at 3:00 pm at the Valley of the Flowers United Church of Christ, 3346 Constellation Road, Lompoc CA
