Rex passed away peacefully on June 16, 2012 after a 2½ -year battle with cancer.
Rex was born August 14, 1931 to Keith and Edith Nauman in Palo Alto, California. After graduation from Palo Alto High School, he attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo for three years studying electrical engineering. He served two years in the army, and then spent his working career as a radio-telecommunications engineer for Vandenberg AFB and the City of Lompoc.
Rex was an active member of Queen of Angels parish helping out wherever he could. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus where he served as Grand Knight of the Lompoc Chapter, Faithful Navigator of the 4th Degree Assembly and President of the Los Padres Chapter. He helped establish the Queen of Angels Council where he served as Financial Secretary for 17 years.
Rex is survived by his wife, Jean, to whom he was married for 56 years, son Greg (Tina), daughters Valerie (Mike) Elliott, Shauna, and Sharon (Ken Blewis), grandchildren Joseph and Keithlyn Elliott, Erika Nauman and his brother Gary (Jan). He was preceded in death by his infant son Kevin and his parents.
A vigil service will be held at Queen of Angles Catholic Church on Sunday, June 24 at 5:00 PM. The memorial mass will be held at Queen of Angels Catholic Church on Monday, June 25 at 10:00 AM. A private inurnment will be held later in the day at the Lompoc Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society or Catholic Charities, 903 Chestnut Avenue, in memory of Rex Nauman.
