Kenneth L. Harris was born in Silt, Colorado June 18, 1921 to Earl and Maybelle Harris. Kenneth passed at Lompoc Hospital December 14, 2015. He was preceded in death by two older brothers and four sisters.

After high school in Colorado, Ken joined the United States Army, served in Europe, WWII and England. He met his first wife Eleanor Purves in England in 1944 while she and her younger sister were singing with the Salvation Army outside a pub. After six months of red tape, they were married in 1944.

His wife and daughter arrived by ship to New York in 1946. Met by Kenneth and his two brothers Elmer and Ivan who were Elli and Gweneth's sponsors, just in case anything happened to Kenneth.

Ken and Eli had three children, Gwyn in England 1945, Daniel 1950 and Robert 1955 born in California.

"Korean Conflict" service serving Army National Guard of California. Training took place at Camp Cooke, now Vandenberg A.F.B.

Retired full time Army National Guard Camp Roberts, California. 1981, had 25 years Federal Service. He was working construction before and soon after Korea.

Eleanor passed before 50 years of marriage at Lemoore, California. He met the second love of his love Hermine Engle after moving to Lompoc, sharing their life as one.

Much later after Hermin's passing, Ken met Mildred Savage, and they married June 2013. Lompoc Record was so nice to have a write up in the paper. Mildred Savage-Harris passed away March 2015.

With the marriage the Harris kids got another brother and DeBiase kids got another Uncle besides Dan and Rob, and Rob's kids got another Uncle.

DeBiase kids attended same schools as Vee Savage in Mission Hills, Lompoc. Now Vee and his wife Judy and daughter Sara live down in Lompoc.

Granddaughter Theresa DeBiase and hubby Shawn Rogers live in Boise, Idaho.

Grandson Thom DeBiase Jr and wife Brigitte and great-grandson Ryan live in Marina, CA. Great grandson Dennis DeBiase lives in Germany. Grandson Troy DeBiase and wife Alison, great granddaughter Isabella DeBiase and great grandsons Aiden and Carson Heath and Elijah DeBiase live in Lompoc.

Son Daniel and wife Kathy live in Porterville, CA visited with Dad at Thanksgiving of this year.

Son Robert and wife Michelle in Oklahoma City have grandchildren so Kenny has offspring to carry on the Harris name with PRIDE.

Thanks to Carrie Forster, first for being a dear friend to Ken and also for being his landlady for a while and still after he married where Mil and Ken had their own home for a while.

Thanks to Santa Maria Terrace where Mildred and Kenneth lived for a long time.

Many thanks to Villa Gardens where Ken lived for a short while in a "home setting".

Warm thanks to Lompoc Hospital staff for showing my Dad respect his last moments.

Last but not least to staff at Santa Maria Hospital for the hours at a time in your care. You made him feel at home.

Ken's remains will be cremated thanks to Starbuck-Lind Mortuary of Lompoc. Services will be at a later date. Kenneth deserves an Honor Guard.
