Kenneth Jerome Sevenandt, 74, of Lompoc, California , passed away, on Saturday, August 13, 2011, following complications from a one and a half year battle with lung cancer.
He was born in Moline, Illinois, June 14, 1937. In 1955, upon graduation from Alleman High School in Moline, Ken joined the Air Force. He married Nancy Moyer at Nouasseur Air Force Base, Morocco, in 1958.
Ken served in the Air Force for 24 years and retired in 1979. His career included service with the 377th Combat Support Group at Tan Son Nhut Air Base, Republic of Vietnam from 1966 to 1967. From 1972 to 1977, he served with the 405th Combat Support Group at Clark Air Force Base, Philippines. While in the Philippines, he was also the Assistant Manager at the base golf course. After retirement from the Air Force, Ken worked for 25 years as the Assistant Director of Golf at Marshallia Ranch Golf Course at Vandenberg AFB retiring in 2005.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy, and their daughters, Holly Lewis and Wendy Sevenandt, and one granddaughter, Christina Lewis, and his sister Elaine Hendrickx. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Leo Sevenandt and Emily Louise DeRycke and his sister Darlene Willets.
A Remembrance in Ken's honor will be held at Marshallia Ranch Golf Course on August 27, 2011 from 1200 to 1600 with Military Honors presented at 1300. Friends are invited to drop by at any time during this time period.
