Kenneth J. York of Lompoc died Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at the age of 71.
Kenneth was born May 19, 1940, in Centralia, Illinois to Walter and Anna York. Raised and educated in Centralia, he graduated from Centralia Township High School.
A resident of Lompoc since 1963, Kenneth was employed as an electrician at Johns Manville, later known as Celite. He was a member and treasures of the International Chemical Workers Union and a founding member of the Lompoc Community Labor Coalition where he acted as the secretary and treasurer. He was also a member of the Central Coast Orchid Society of Lompoc.
Kenneth enjoyed fishing, camping and raising orchids.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 45 years Gloria York, his daughters and their husbands Michelle and Jerry Frier of Lompoc and Denise and Mark Woltmann of Long Beach, one granddaughter Monica Frier, and his brother Walter York, Jr. of Centralia, Illinois.
The visitation will be on Monday, March 5, 2012 from 4 to 6 pm and the funeral service will be 11 am Tuesday, March 6, in the chapel of the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. Interment will follow in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
