Ketrenia Dianna Hall (nee Crass) was born on January 12, 1947 to Robert Love Crass and Girtue Louise Crass (nee Damron) in Muleshoe, Texas. Ketrenia's siblings are Quinette Begg (Les), Roberta Crass, Marie Imel (Hughie), Addie Francis, Lynn Andrade and Robert Crass, Jr. (Wanda).
On June 17, 1967, Ketrenia was married to James Michael Hall with the couple renewing their marriage vows on March 20, 2013 after being together for fifty years and forty-six years of marriage. Ketrenia's immediate family consists of her husband and their two children, Dr. James II (Maria and son Constantine James) and Lt. Col. Heather Bridges (Chris and their four children, Clifton Lee, Chase Christopher, James Hall [Jay]) and Taylor Ketrenia. Ketrenia's heavenly additions included her daughter, angel Mary Anne, granddaughter, angel Teresa Elizabeth Hall and grandson, angel Michael Scott Hall. Now as of April 5, 2013, "...there's one more angel in heaven and one more star in the sky..."
Ketrenia was a devoted and loving mother. She was constantly involved with Jimmy and Heather's lives, including their spiritual training, education and extracurricular activities (baseball, football, soccer and softball - as a team mother, coach, supporter and most avid fan).
Ketrenia was truly an amazing woman. Along with being the best mother any child could ask for, she graduated from Lompoc High School in 1965 and was added to its Hall of Fame in 2010. She graduated from LaVerne with a Bachelor's Degree; near completion of her Master's Degree at Golden Gate University and was very proud of her completion of the courses to qualify as a California Certified Legal Secretary. Ketrenia was employed in a variety of positions including the Lompoc Credit Bureau, McMahan's Furniture, Federal Electric Services, United States Bureau of Prisons (she was the first female hired as a correctional officer in an all-male institution), federal Civil Service, Aerospace Corporation, real estate sales with ERA, General Dynamics (Financial Analyst), Martin Marietta (Financial Analyst), Lockheed Corporation (Financial Analyst) before assuming the position of Law Office Manager/Legal Secretary for her husband's law office where she retired due to her medical complications.
As if the above was not enough, Ketrenia was deeply involved with her community, Lompoc. She always found time to make Lompoc a better place to live and raise a family. Her involvements included the following: La Purisima Concepcion Catholic Church (golf tournament and fund-raising), Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce, Lompoc Human Services Commission, Santa Barbara County Human Services Commission, Legal Secretaries (both as an officer [secretary and treasurer] and member), Lompoc Kiwanis Club (both as numerous officer positions and member/named Kiwanian of the Year and numerous times as Kiwanian of the Month and received the Distinguished Service Award), 2000 Alumnus of Leadership Lompoc Valley, Beta Sigma Phi (both as a board officer and member), Lompoc Family YMCA, Lompoc Youth Sports and High School Diamond Club, Bike Ride Around America for cancer awareness and fund-raising (event organizer), Lompoc Host Lions Club (speech contest judge), Lompoc Moose Lodge, Lompoc Elks Lodge, and the Lompoc Hospital Foundation. For her involvement, Ketrenia was voted the Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year for 2011.
Ketrenia had a true faith and devotion to Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and His Mother, Mary. Often times, she would talk about her faith and the promises in the Bible, her favorite being the 23rd Psalm, the Our Father prayer and the Hail Mary prayer. Her devotion to Mary was also evidenced by her love for the hymn, Ave Maria.
Ketrenia also had a human side as she was devoted to her idol, Elvis. She was personally responsible for many of her relatives actually seeing Elvis live. Not only that but her real claim to fame was that he kissed her during one of his shows at the Las Vegas International Hotel. Finally, when she renewed her wedding vows with Jim, Elvis provided the music, the Hawaiian Wedding Song and The Wonder of You (used as Jim's response to the priest's inquiry as to what attracted us to each other).
The visitation will be Monday, April 8, from 4-6 pm at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. The evening vigil will be Monday at 7 pm at La Purisima Catholic Church led by Deacon Richard Stalder. Father Richard Vega will celebrate the mass of Christian burial on Tuesday, April 9, at 10 am followed by the interment at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
PS {from Jim}: God only knows what I am going to do without you. I hardly remember anytime without you. Your faith, love and family values are instilled in me. Your love for the Lettermen's song, "When I Fall In Love" worked on me. Know that I have always loved you and that I will continue to praise and honor you. Please watch over us (oh yeah, sorry about my dancing).
