Larry R. Flinkingshelt joined his daughter Susan Marie in heaven on December 10, 2018. Larry and his wife, Sarah McGregor Flinkingshelt, have made Lompoc their home since 1962. Larry was born in Travelers Rest, South Carolina, on April 24, 1938, to Bernice and Larry R. Flinkingshelt, Sr., who preceded him in death.

Larry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sarah McGregor, son John Larry (Raegen), and granddaughters Ciera, Faith & Brianna.

Larry was stationed at Norton Air Force Base in 1960 while in United States Air Force. After being discharged, he accepted a job with FEC/ITT at Vandenberg AFB where he worked for 35 years. He was a member of the Lompoc Parks and Recreation Committee for many years. He was a Lompoc Jaycee when they ran the Flower Festival Parade and participated for many years. Larry had many accomplishments, but he will be remembered most for his love and kindness for his family and many friends.

A Celebration of Life and Barbecue will be held at the Hilliard Bruce Winery, 2075 Vineyard View Lane, Lompoc, CA (off Highway 246, east of Lompoc), on Saturday, December 29, 2018, from 12 Noon to 4 PM. We thank Christine Bruce and John Hilliard for their generosity.

The family would like to thank the staff in the Cottage Hospital Infusion Lab, the Oncology Department, and the hospital doctors who cared for Larry. A very special thanks to Dr. Jeff Sager and Dr. Margaret Ray who always went above and beyond when treating Larry.
