Larry Janes was born on October 15, 1946, in Gilroy, California.  He passed away on January 25, 2020 in Lompoc, California, where he lived for most of his life.

Larry attended Lompoc schools and graduated from Lompoc High School in 1965.  He was drafted into the US Army in 1966 and served as a helicopter mechanic in Vietnam for two years, during the Vietnam War.  He worked at Vandenberg Air Force Base before becoming employed by Lompoc Unified School District as a gardener, the job from which he later retired.

Larry was predeceased by his parents Earl and Jennie Janes, brother Randal Janes. and his partner in life Carolyn Hammerberg.  He is survived by his sister Valerie Janes Morales of Lancaster, California and Karen Hammerberg, as well as a nephew, nieces, and cousins.  Graveside services will be held with military honors on Saturday March 7, at 11:00 a.m. at Lompoc Cemetery, followed by a reception at Karen Hammerberg's home.
