Larry Michael "Mike" Forren passed away at the University of Southern California Medical Facility in Los Angeles, CA on December 19th 2015. He was 64 years old.
Mike was born in Knoxville, TN to his parents James and Violet Forren. He was a longtime resident of Lompoc, CA.
Mike graduated from Cabrillo High School in 1969 and then joined the United States (US) Army. He proudly served his country, was a sharp shooter and received honors for his accomplishments. In 1974 he received an honorable discharge from the US Army. He was employed as an IT and Communications Engineer at ITT Federal Services Corporation on Vandenberg Air Force Base since 1976. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of La Verne in 1979.
Mike was an active member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1036 up to its closure in 2009. He remained active in the community by volunteering at the Food Bank of Santa Barbara County delivering groceries to individuals in Lompoc. He was also a member of the following organizations: American Legion Post 125, Elks Lodge #2274 and the Lompoc Flower Festival Association.
Mike married the love of his life, Tina Forren in 2002. He enjoyed his backyard with family and friends, golfing, camping, traveling with his wife and hanging out with his friends at the local Whistle Stop. He had a special green thumb, was an avid lover of Fox News and insisted to call everybody "Willis" no matter who you were. He touched the lives of so many people and he will be truly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Mike joins his father James Russell Forren in heaven.
Mike is survived by his mother Violet Hester Forren, his wife Tina Forren, son Daniel Forren, daughter Jamie Rose Taylor, her husband Richard Taylor, granddaughter Elinor and grandson Henry, step daughter Annette Barajas and her husband Alex Barajas, his brother Bob Forren, brother John Forren, sister-in-law Anne Forren, and niece Grace.
A viewing will be held at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary located at 123 North A Street on Sunday, December 27th from 3 to 7 P.M. A graveside service will be held at the Lompoc Cemetery on Monday, December 28th at 3 P.M. Following the service, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Whistle Stop located at 805 West Laurel Ave.
