IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Laurie Jean
Lehman
November 28, 1958 – November 1, 2018
Laurie Jean Lehman was born on November 28, 1958 to Ernest and Therese Lehman at Vandenberg Air Force base. She was the youngest of seven children. She grew up attending Queen of Angels Catholic Church and school through sixth grade and then on to Lompoc Junior High. She graduated from Cabrillo High School in 1976 and the University of La Verne in 1987 with a BS in Business Administration.
Laurie lived and worked in Fremont, CA from 1985-1995. She enjoyed working in Administration with Computer Software companies and spending time with family in the Bay Area. Laurie was always the family gatherings and birthdays photographer. She was a wonderful seamstress and made costumes for her niece Erica. Most remembered are Snow White with all the details, a beautiful Bat, and a Jeanie Costume.
Wherever Laurie lived she always had a church home and family and was an active participant, she especially enjoyed working with children's groups. Laurie sponsored a young girl in Korea through a church organization for over 30 years. Ashley Lee lives in Korea with her husband and children. Laurie did make a trip over to Korea about 1996 and was able to meet Ashley. Laurie always sent birthday and holiday packages to Ashley, she loved her as her own daughter.
Laurie had a love and ease with horses. She did have some formal training with riding and care of them. While living in Lompoc, she volunteered at a horse stable near Buellton for a time.
As a member of Trinity Church for the past 4 years, she was active in the Senior Adult Bible Study and regularly attended the Senior Lunch. She loved the Lord deeply and did her best to learn and grow in Him. She made special friends and especially enjoyed time with her sister in Christ, Linda Beaulieu.
Mental illness is a difficult illness to navigate, understand, and treat, and was difficult for Laurie, her family and friends. Laurie did her best to maintain a productive life, but the imbalance could come fast, and her episodes were lasting longer. Her family is grateful for every person in Laurie's life that did or tried to love and support her.
