Lawrence Leroy Balaam was born on June 9, 1931, and was the sixth born to Kathleen and Maurice Balaam of Lompoc. "Larry" met Ramona Petersen in 1949 at a school dance in Santa Ynez. They dated for one year and were married August 2, 1950. He farmed, raised cattle and worked in construction most of his adult life. Together they raised four daughters, Diane Link, Elizabeth Armenta, Susan Gunter and Deborah Campbell. Ramona passed away March 23, 2015. He has eight grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one on the way.

Larry died Tuesday January 5, 2016 at Lompoc Valley Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held 10 am Monday January 11th at the Lompoc Cemetery followed by a gathering at the Balaam residence in Lompoc.
