IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lawrence Vincent
Culliver
November 26, 1933 – March 26, 2014
Lawrence Vincent (Vince) Culliver was born November 26, 1933, in Indiana, PA, and was called home on March 26, 2014. He was 80 years old.
He was preceded in death by his parents Katherine and Lawrence Culliver of Indiana, Pennsylvania.
He is survived by his loving wife of three years Dianne Jeanne Culliver of Santa Maria. They were married on February 27, 2011.
Vince Culliver loved his country and honored that love for his country by serving 23 years in the United States Air Force as a Missile Technician. While in the military he participated in many military sports programs. Vince loved racing cars. He was the president of his racing club at McGuire AFB, New Jersey and he raced while stationed at Langley AFB, VA as well. Vince also loved bowling. He was a semi-professional bowler. He not only bowled in leagues and tournaments, but he reached out to others of all ages to teach them the love of bowling.
Vince was a loving and caring brother to all of his siblings. He was nurturer and role model to them as well.
Our father has always had a wonderful spirit and was wonderful to be around. Growing up he taught my brother and me many lessons too. Whether that was right from wrong or fishing or hunting my father wanted to make sure he was there for us. Our father taught us how important education was. He also inspired us to explore different sports as he did. He could make you laugh when you were feeling sad and he never missed a chance to crack a joke or give a hug. He brought the "sunshine." Our father also kept his chin up and never let others know how sick he was. He wanted to be there for other people. Even up to a few days before he passed he sounded better. That's just the type of person he was and we love him for that.
Vince is survived by his brothers and sisters: Dr. Conchetta C. Culliver of Baltimore, Maryland; Lolita N. Culliver-Tisdale of Fresno, California; Leona J. Culliver-Davis of Los Angeles, California; Stella A. Culliver-Hinton of Henderson, Nevada; Lawrence Culliver of Los Angeles; Jerome Culliver, Henderson.
He is survived by his daughter D'Angellette Culliver-Woods of Suffolk Virginia her husband Frank; his son Vincent Lawrence Culliver, III of Lompoc California and wife Kim; his grandchildren Sienna Nicole Woods, Frank D'Angelo Woods, Xavier Charles Woods, Alec Robert Felde, Brooklynn Jade Culliver, and Katherine Cheryl Culliver; three stepdaughters, six step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.
The viewing will be held at Starbucks-Lind Funeral Home Lompoc from 3-5pm on Saturday, March 29, 2014. The funeral will be at 2pm on Sunday March 30, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church, 3355 Constellation Road in Lompoc, 93436.
