Vigil services for Lompoc native Lawrence L. Rivaldi, 88, will be 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. John Fitzgerald presiding. Inurnment will be private.
Mr. Rivaldi was born January 13, 1922 to Louis and Domenica Martinelli Rivaldi. Lawrence was raised and educated in Lompoc and was introduced into dairy ranching at a young age. He worked in the dairy business with his brothers his entire working life and later owned and managed Mission Belle Dairy in Lompoc for many years. He retired from dairy ranching after 40 years. Lawrence was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. He was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed hunting, fishing and tending to his garden. Lawrence was a longtime parishioner of Queen of Angels Catholic Church. He had recently received his 30 year pin from the Lompoc Elks Lodge and belonged to the American Legion, Historical Society, Lompoc Museum and Half Century Club.
He died Friday, May 14, 2010 at Lompoc Valley Medical Center.
Survivors (spouses/companions) include his wife of 60 years, Dollie Rivaldi of Lompoc; daughters, Loretta (Steve) Johnson of Lompoc, Laurie (Lloyd) Florow of San Diego, and Linda (Tim Murphy) Rivaldi of Lompoc; grandchildren, Jake (Heather) Johnson, Ben (Tina Hamby) Johnson, Erin (Steve) Savoca, and Brandon Florow; great-grandchildren, Cameron Johnson, Ashley Johnson, and Christian Savoca. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Attilio Rivaldi and Henry Rivaldi; and sister, Katherine Ferrari.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lawrence's name to the St. Jude Children's Hospital.
