Obituary

Services for Lee R. Avants, 82, of Lompoc, will be 11 a.m., Friday, November 2, 2007 at the First Southern Baptist Church with Pastor Paul Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.

Mr. Avants was born June 16, 1925 in Bennington, Oklahoma and was the youngest of 17 children. He was a World War II veteran and served in the United States Navy. Lee moved to Lompoc in 1965 and worked as an electronics technician at Pt. Mugu and Vandenberg Air Force Base before retiring after 29 years with civil service. He was a longtime foster parent and was active with the First Southern Baptist Church. His favorite pastimes included writing Christian music and sports.

He died Monday, October 29, 2007 at Lompoc Hospital.

Survivors include his daughters, Valorie Avants, Pamela Avants, and Mary Avants, all of Lompoc and Renee Campbell of Apache Junction, Arizona; brother, Ray Avants of Fresno; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ora Faye in 2003
