Obituary

Lee Roy Wilson, born in Albany Missouri, February 5, 1922 to A. K. (Brack) and Pearl Irene Wilson and was the second son of eight brothers and sisters.

Lee was drafted into the 38th Calvary RC Squadron during the Second World War at the age of 18, and sent overseas to Europe where he served four campaigns, Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe, and Normandy, and was awarded 5 Bronze Metals. He was discharged in 1947, re-enlisted in the Army Air Force for 3 years and was sent to Guam and Panama.

Lee met his beloved wife, Rosalyn Elizabeth Malito in 1947 at the USO while Lee was serving the in Army Air Force in Denver, Colorado. Directly after they married, Lee was immediately sent to Guam for 18 months. He was discharged in March, 1950 and was recalled in October that same year and shortly after, he was sent to Korea. He also served overseas in Sondrestrom, Greenland and Izmir, Turkey. His service also took him to numerous bases stateside. In fact, all 5 children were born in different bases within the United States.

Throughout his military career, Lee received the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service received numerous other metals for his brave and honest achievements, but never spoke a word about them.

Shortly after his military retirement at Vandenberg Air Force Base, he worked for the Lompoc School District Transit for 13 years driving the Lompoc school bus and never missed one day of work. Dad prided himself on his driving ability and maintaining an active driver's license. We also counted on him to be our human GPS.

Lee enjoyed his well earned retirement and his love for horses and the West. He spent time reading and watching Westerns, working word puzzles, and listening to Western music. Most of all, he loved the company of his wife and family.

One never had to tell Lee to "take it easy" because that's exactly how he lived his life, without complaints or worries that most folks experience during life.

Lee was preceded in death by his brothers, Junior and Dale, and his son, Louis Lee. Lee passed peacefully at Lompoc Valley Hospital on Monday, March 26, 2012. Per his wishes, Lee will be cremated and his ashes will be divided and placed along side of his son, Louis Lee, and sent back to his family in Albany, Missouri.

Lee is survived by his loving wife Rosalyn, his daughters, Janet Rae, born 1952, and Theresa Irene, born 1953, Michael Dale, born 1956 and Kenneth Rae, born 1958, his grandson, Sami Lee, born 1988, his brothers, Bob and Max, his sister, Joyce and several nieces and nephews.

Dad was a man of few words, but his words counted, he will be remembered as an honest, friendly, down to earth man, dedicated friend and Father. He received enjoyment from the simple things in life. He will be missed by all the lives he touched, but most of all, his Family.

At the family's request there will be no services for Mr. Wilson. Arrangements are in the care of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. www.starbucklind.com
