Lena Antoinette Gallagher was born May 31, 1923, in Binghamton, New York to Vincenzo and Maria Borrello. She passed away March 19, 2018, at the age of 94. She was the second of four children. She was the only daughter of the four children. Lena was very close to her family. She was the last surviving member of her family. Lena's parents, Vincenzo and Maria, preceded her in death, as did her brothers Vincent (Jim), Frank and Tony. Lena is also preceded in death by her oldest son, Charles Arthur Gallagher III. Charles passed away in 2004.
Lena met her husband Charles Arthur Gallagher, Jr. in 1955 and they were married in June of 1956. They were married for 43 years before Charles passed away December 6, 1999.
Lena is survived by her two sons and their families Tony and Terry Gallagher of Oak Island, North Carolina and Patrick and Karla Gallagher of Lompoc, California. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Yvonne Maddox of Calhoun, Georgia. Lena has also left five grandchildren, Samuel, Tony, Kiefer, Jacob and Morgan Gallagher. She had numerous nephews, nieces, and great-grandchildren from Temecula, California to Carpinteria, California to Calhoun, Georgia.
Lena's favorite saying was "God never gives you a cross too big you can't carry." She is forever in all our hearts and souls and will never be forgotten. We love you, Mom.
Visitation hours will be from 4 to 8 pm with a vigil service at 7 pm, Friday, March 23, 2018, at the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. A funeral mass will be celebrated 9 am Saturday at La Purisima Catholic Church, 213 West Olive Ave. in Lompoc. Burial will follow at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
