Leon Peter Manton of Lompoc died Friday, November 28, 2014, at the age of 91.
Leon was born December 9, 1923, in Italy to American parents. He attended elementary and high school in Springfield, Massachusetts. He attended Bentley University and Northwestern University receiving degrees of Bachelors of Science in accounting and a Masters in financial management. He served in the military and civilian work force for 43 years including service as a staff member of the Secretary of the Navy for financial management. He retired June 1985 as a Captain. He later accepted a position on the Secretary of the Navy staff as a civilian with the grade of GS-15 to teach and lecture on the Naval Industrial fund to Navy shore activities. Leon was an avid golfer and a member of the Village Country Club.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Queen of Angels Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Friday, December 5, 2014. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
He leaves two brothers George and Raymond in Springfield, Massachusetts and a dear friend Judith Field in Lompoc.
