Mae Holloway of Lompoc, died on September 4, 2013.
She was born to George L. and Katherine Serres Sumter on March 9, 1918. She was the second of four children. Mae finished grammar school in Orcutt when the family moved to Lompoc. She started High School in Lompoc and graduated in 1936. Mae worked for Santa Barbara Telephone, Santa Barbara County Building Department and with her husband, Erwin, in their plumbing business.
She married Erwin Holloway on July 12, 1937 at Presbyterian Chapel in Santa Barbara. They had four children – Bob (Eileen), Gene (Pat), Donnie (Joanie) and Judy, eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Erwin, a grandson, her brother George Sumpter and two nephews. Mae leaves behind her children, her brothers John and Bill Sumter and many cousins.
Funeral Services will be held at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary, Lompoc, CA, at 10:00 am, Friday, September 13, 2013. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cystic Fibrosis, Juvenile Diabetes or the charity of your choice in honor of Mae Holloway.
