Leona Marie Senior
Marie Senior, 82, of Lompoc, passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 13, 2011 surrounded by her family.
Marie was born on November 27, 1928 in Los Angeles California to Virgil and Leona Kneedler. During her senior year in high school, Marie received a scholarship in Music from the University of Southern California but instead went to work in an office to help support her family.
While attending the Sichel Street Church of Christ in Los Angeles she met her future husband, Les Senior, and the two were married on June 28, 1947. During their wonderful 50 years of marriage they were faithful to the Lord and raised four children before retiring to Lompoc in 1972.
Marie was a dedicated member of the Lompoc Church of Christ and involved herself in many of their activities and was a mentor and servant to those in the church and in the community. She loved to swim, paint, and tend her garden, which brought great joy to her and to others. Family was most important to Marie and her love and the many hours of laughter that she shared with them will be a cherished memory for all generations.
She will truly be missed.
Marie is survived by children Roy and Anne Senior of Orcutt, Shan and Mark Williams of Cool, California, David and Kim Senior of Orcutt, and Marilee Senior of Lompoc along with 11 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Les in 1997, and Grandson Christopher Gortner in 1988.
A memorial service will be held at the Lompoc Church of Christ on Monday, July 18, 2011 at 11:00am officiated by Jerry Kendall. Arrangements are entrusted to Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lompoc Church of Christ to assist in the purchase of new song books, as Christian music was a passion in her life.
