Obituary

Lester Allen Huyck was born to John Douglas Huyck and Redricia Wellemeyer on September 24, 1958. Born and raised in Lompoc, California, Lester was one of ten siblings, including eight boys. Ranching at a young age, Lester was taught a hard work ethic by his father and stepfather; a trait he would carry on in his life and eventually pass down to his children.

Lester was a Lompoc High alumni graduating in 1977. A natural athlete, he played many sports throughout his youth, including varsity football, playing under the Huyck stadium lights. Lester also exceeded in wrestling becoming a CIT champion in 1976. This is the sport his family became most predominant in and would continue to the next generation.

Yet, Lester's greatest pride would come later when he became a father to his two sons. He enjoyed raising his boys and coaching for their many sports as they grew. Lester also enjoyed being outdoors, riding motorcycles, fishing with friends, hanging out with family and dressing to the nines for any special occasion.

Finally, after working many years as a carpenter, Lester would eventually find friendship and faith with his former boss and mentor Don. Here is where he would spend some of his last days working side by side with his sons.

Lester is preceded in death by his sister Deborah, father John and grandparents Laurence and Dorothy. He is survived by his mother Ricia, his stepfather Rudy, older sister Karen, brothers: Jimmy, Laurence, Pat, Mike, Rudy, Art and twin brother and best friend Leonard. He also leaves behind his two sons Randall and Keith; nephews: Eric, Brian, Jeff and Adam; Niece Cara and granddaughters: Bree, Kendall and Kelsea Huyck.

He will be missed by all who knew him.

A memorial will be held in his honor at Starbuck Lind Mortuary on Friday, December 13, from 4-7 pm with a prayer said at 6pm.
