Lily J. Spear was born April 2, 1927 in Des Moines, Iowa. She was full of energy and always outside playing. Lily went to Drake University and met Lloyd Spear who had just returned from India from WWII. They married and were soul mates for 65 years.

They traveled all over the world during their time in the United States Air Force. First to Stockholm, Sweden, then to Fontainebleau, France and from there to Frankfurt, Germany.
Next they came back to the states to Knob Noster, Missouri and then on to Guam until 1959.
AT that time they were stationed at Camp Cook, CA. Lloyd was part of the lead group to open what is now Vandenberg Air Force Base. They settled in downtown Lompoc with their three children. Lily then opened the "Stateside Office Supply" store. She loved to serve her customers and help them solve problems with the proper office supplies. Her greatest joy was grooming young teenagers to meet the public and learn to work.

In 1961, Lloyd retired from the Air Force and joined Lily as her business partner. Lily was a true servant to her husband, children, the city she loved (Lompoc) and her church. She taught Sunday school for many, many years and loved to tell the stories how Jesus walked on water, healed the sick, and rose from the dead to prepare heaven for us. She always believed that Jesus loved all the little children and that He loves you.

She is survived by her children Carolyn O'Brien, Brad Spear, Anna Zucker; eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

There will be a visitation on Sunday, November 23 from 4-8 pm at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary and a Graveside Service on Monday, November 24 at 2pm at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
