IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linvel Lee
Kyser, Jr.
November 7, 1934 – September 26, 2025
Linvel Lee Kyser, Jr. was born on November 7, 1934, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Linvel and Laura. He grew up alongside his three siblings Billy, Reva, and Reba and through his early years developed a strong sense of dedication and kindness that stayed with him throughout his life.
At the age of 17, Lee proudly joined the Air Force, beginning a distinguished career as a flight engineer on the AC-119K Gunship. His service spanned 27 years, 2 months, and 17 days, culminating in his retirement in 1979 as a Senior Master Sergeant at Vandenberg Air Force Base.
Lee's passion for racing ignited in 1959 at the Continental Divide Raceway in Denver, Colorado, where he drove a Jaguar. His love for the sport followed him overseas to Germany, where, after arriving in March 1961, he resumed racing in February 1962. In June 1964, he purchased his first Mini Cooper, a symbol of his enduring enthusiasm for cars and speed.
Following his military retirement, Lee continued his career driving trucks and buses, embracing the open road with the same spirit that defined his life. On December 6, 1985, he married his beloved wife, Liza. Together, they raised three sons Michael, Nealen, and Anthony and were proud grandparents to Ethan, Avery, and Nicolas.
Lee's passions extended beyond his career and racing; he loved cars, cherished his cats, and was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Known for his easygoing nature and infectious smile, Lee was a man who could always be counted on. He loved sharing stories, breaking down complex problems, and analyzing life with a thoughtful perspective.
In his later years, Lee found joy in simple pleasures walking the La Purisima Golf Course and feeding the ducks, moments that reflected his gentle spirit and appreciation for the small things in life.
Lee Kyser will be remembered as a man of warmth, strength, and generosity. He was a true friend and family man who lived life at his own pace, with a smile on his face and a story always ready to be told.
