On April 6, 2018 Lois Wright Goss' soul joyfully joined those many family and friends who have left this temporary life into eternity with God. She was born June 22, 1919 in El Cajon, CA to Merle and Harold Wright.  The oldest of 4 daughters, the Wright family moved throughout California during her growing up years, ending up in Sacramento

Lois met Earl Goss on a camping trip in Yosemite  and were married in Carson City, NV August 18, 1937, after a 2 month courtship.  Home became Glendale, CA.  Lois and Earl had 4 children; Donald Lee, Robert Earl (who died of SID at 6 months), Suzy Griggs and Bonnie McElwain.

Lois had a very colorful life, loving the spontaneous.  She worked side by side with her husband in his business but her main focus was raising the children and maintaining the home.  Her life was centered around glorifying Jesus and sharing the Good News of His love and salvation, and when she was asked to teach Sunday School did so for 40+ years, teaching several generations at Glendale Presbyterian Church.  She was involved in having home Child Evangelism classes, going to downtown L.A. weekly to help in a Hispanic mission church, all while managing the myriad activities at home of piano lessons, scouts, church events, Bible studies, dinner parties, making memories, creatively celebrating holidays and major life events.   She opened up their home to taking in foster kids, foreign exchange students, military, and other family members when needed. Many a fun evening was spent playing board games - but you didn't want to be close by if she was losing at them!  She was a VERY competitive lady!

She lost her beloved husband at age 48 and began life on her own serving Christ wherever He led her.  She continued opening her home by taking in Fuller Seminary students and had the privilege of hosting the internationally famous Corrie ten Boom, a story she delighted in retelling.  Lois then became involved with people from the Philippines making several trips to Cabaloan, Urdeneta and helping start a church there and in Maui, Hawaii.

After living in Glendale for 52 years, she moved to Lompoc at age 70 to be near one of her sisters.  She embraced her new life enthusiastically and frequently attended Calvary Baptist Church and was a member of Trinity Nazarene Church, became active with Awana, the seniors group, making good friends, writing and typing up a monthly seniors newsletter for 20 years, attending Bible studies, participating in potlucks and continuing to open up her home to others with memorable meals, and working in her lovely garden.   In addition to her church activities, she was a docent for over 25 years at La Purisima Mission and was credited as being the oldest "Big Sister" to a teenager.

For a woman who "didn't want to travel" she visited many parts of the world.  First with her husband and family then on her own or with friends or family, sometimes planning trips ahead and sometimes just spontaneously taking off in her camper.  She experienced worldwide trips, but tent camping was her favorite get-away.  So many good times at Bass Lake, skiing behind the motorboat, hauling water, sweeping out the tent or rock-hounding in remote areas of California with great good friends.

She lived a full and meaningful life of 98 years and left many people with wonderful memories. She adored her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed the annual group birthday party when everyone gathered. She so appreciated the letters and pictures faithfully sent to watch them grow.  She is survived by her 3 children, 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and her adopted village in the Philippians including the Valdez family.

There will be a celebration of life at Trinity Nazarene Church May 19th at 2:00 p.m., reception following.
