Obituary

Lorin N. Trubschenck Long-time resident of Lompoc, CA


Lorin passed away on August 21, 2010 at the age of 92.


Lorin spent most of his career proudly serving his country in the Air Force, beginning with training in 1941 at Moffett Field, completing it at Yale University. He entered combat duty from 1942-1946 as a decorated bomber pilot. He then became the Director of the Yosemite Ski School. He pursued his military career as a pilot in Korea from 1947-1951. From 1951-1953 served as Base Commander of Indian Springs AFB in NV and at Kirtland AFB in NM. From 1954-1963 he continued his flying career in Reserve Program out of McClellan AFB in Sacramento, CA. Also, from 1955-1965 Lorin served as President of the San Juan Ridge Water and Soil Conservation Districts. In 1965 he retired as a Colonel and also ended his second career as a cattle rancher in Grass Valley/Nevada City, then left the area.


During his retirement years Lorin remained active flying his Mooney, traveling, playing golf, and gardening. He will be fondly remembered as a loyal friend who loved his family and serving his country.


Lorin is survived by his wife Narlee of 27 years, his children Eric Trubschenck, MD (Diane), Otto Trubschenck (Mary), Caroline Trubschenck-Covault (Rayne), step-son John Hermanson (Marilyn), and many family members and friends. He is predeceased by his daughter Lori Trubschenck-Hinman and his step-daughter Claudia Barsamian.


A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 3:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Services by Oak Hill Funeral Home, 300 Curtner Ave., San Jose, CA. Donations to the Air Force Memorial Foundation, One Air Force Memorial Dr., Airlington, VA 22204 (afmf@airforcememorial.org)
