IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Louis
Domingos
September 7, 1935 – June 22, 2021
Louis Domingos was born in Lompoc, California on September 7,1935. Louie passed away on June 22, 2021 after a brave, eight year battle with Primary Lateral Sclerosis (PLS).
Louie graduated from Lompoc High School, class of 1953. Extracurricular activities included football, baseball and boxing for which he claimed he "trained for on Saturday nights".After graduation he joined three of his brothers Manuel, Tony, and Jimmy in the U.S. Navy, where he served in Guam.Louie returned to Lompoc and began 40 years of service to Johns-Manville/Celite/Imerys. During this time he received a BA in psychology from Chapman University.
Louie was a pool and card shark. Let's just say, he had skills and emptied wallets all over the county. Anyone who knew Louie could expect to hear his latest joke or a "story" you were expected to believe. Such as, he was raised by wolves, his alias was Tom Cruise, or the scar on his neck was shrapnel received in the war.
Louie's true love was baseball. Whether it was supporting his beloved Chicago Cubs or coaching Lompoc's youth, he was all in. He coached all ages, Little League, Babe Ruth, Lompoc and Cabrillo High Schools. Included in his many successes are the 1968 Babe Ruth World Series Championship and the 1970 Lompoc High CIF championship. His players will remember him as a tough guy whose instruction was sometimes harsh but always insightful.
Louie was preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Tilda, his siblings, Manuel, Beatrice, Tony, Jimmy, and David, his daughter Sherri Dickson and his niece Katherine "Peanut" Cook. He is survived by his daughter, Debra Kitts (Steve Scott), son Steve Domingos (Barbara Smith); son-in-law Ronald Dickson; grandchildren Jay Kitts (Rebecca), Bradley Kitts (Jennifer), Whitney Gouveia (Brandon), Michael Dickson, Taryn Domingos (Joe) and Stephanie Domingos; great-grandchildren Tanner, Jackson, Molly, Edith, Odin, Ryder, Seraya, plus another great-grandson on the way; many nieces and nephews, and his lifelong friend, Bill Rule.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Miguelito Park, BBQ area B, in Lompoc California, at noon, on July 10, 2021. Please bring your favorite Louie memory to share.
