Louise Emmons, 86, passed away on November 29, 2023.  She leaves behind to treasure her memory, her three children: Matthew Moore of Lompoc, California, Mitch Moore and his wife Tammy of Denver, Colorado, and Mike Moore of Lompoc.  In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren Jason, Saydee, Alexa, Marina and her niece Debra (Anthony) Peel, and two great grandchildren Brinley and Isacc.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband Col. Melvin Emmons, Ret., her parents Mack and Dorothy Durkee, and her siblings John, Giles and Maxine Thorson.

Louise moved to Lompoc with her first husband and family in 1964.  Eventually Louise enrolled in Cal Poly and earned her master's degree in 1976.  She went on to a 32-year teaching career at Crestview Elementary on Vandenberg Air Force Base.  She loved teaching her little "cherubs."  It was at Vandenberg Airforce Base where she met her second husband, Col. Melvin Emmons.  Lou was blessed with his companionship until his sudden death in 1992.

Louise was active in Gold Star Wives, the Alpha Club, and treasured time spent visiting and traveling with family and friends.

Louise's family appreciates the outpouring of love and support from neighbors and friends.  Thank you, and God bless you.
