Obituary

Lompoc native Louise Lawrence died Monday, October 8, at the age of 96.

Louise was born September 23, 1911 in Lompoc to Frank and Mabel Murray. She was a descendant of Benjamin Franklin Tucker one of the original settlers and the first postmaster of Lompoc. She graduated from Lompoc High School in 1929. After her marriage to Stanley Lawrence she began he lifelong career as a homemaker.

Louise enjoyed playing the piano, and could play it by ear. She was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Lompoc and was known to many there and around town as "Momma". She loved cats, and as a resident of the Convalescent Care Center they were always welcome guests in her room.

She is survived by her daughters, Jewel Harter of Thousand Oaks, Julia Watts of Stagecoach, Nevada, Janice Quisenberry and her husband Lyndon of Thousand Palms; sons, Stanley Lawrence, Jr. and his wife Judy of Santa Maria, Murray Lawrence of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Daniel Lawrence of Lompoc; 13 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley in 1986, her daughter Bonnie Lawrence in 1946, her sister Susie Coats, brothers Albert, Arthur and George Murray. Her very dear friend Joan Anderson of Lompoc also survives her. All who knew her loved her. Her family will miss their beloved mother and grandmother.

The visitation will be on Wednesday, October 10, from 4 to 7 pm at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. The funeral service will be on Thursday, October 11, at 1 pm at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 205 West Chestnut Avenue in Lompoc followed by interment in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. Following the service there will be a reception in Watson Hall at the church.
