Obituary

Louise Souders of Santa Maria went home to the Lord on December 14, 2007 at the age of 86.

Louise was born April 2, 1921 to Jack and Jennie Rine in Bennet, Texas. She attended schools in Johnson, Oklahoma. She married Frank Souders on July 17, 1937. Louise worked alongside her husband on the family farm where she gained a reputation for her hard work. During WWII the family relocated to Richmond CA where Louise worked in the shipyards. Louise was a welder and reached the level of Journeyman Welder; a highly unusual achievement for a woman in 1942.

In 1958 the family moved to Santa Maria, CA and Louise gained employment with John Ingles Frozen Foods. She worked there for over 25 years, where she rose to the level of floor leader and was well respected by her co-workers. After her retirement, Louise created and designed beautiful baby quilts. She was a wonderful cook and won awards for her wares at the Santa Barbara County Fair. However, Louise's four daughters and their families were her pride and joy.

Louise is survived by her daughters Wanda King and husband Billy of Checotah, Oklahoma, Jeanice Siegrist and husband Greg of Checotah, Oklahoma, Dolores Hoffman of Canoga Park, CA and Tresha Souders-Lacasse and husband Ray of Lompoc; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank and 3 sisters.

Cremation will be followed by private inurnment in Johnson, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
