Luciano Avila Gomez of Lompoc passed away on June 28, 2007, at 79 years of age. He was born on December 13, 1927, in Sultipec, Mexico, to Pasqual and Natalia Avila-Gomez.
He was raised and educated in Mexico and came to the United States and settled in Santa Barbara in 1949. He moved to Lompoc in 1999.
Luciano loved walking and riding his bicycle around Lompoc. He loved to garden and was a foreman for San Lorenzo Nursery in Santa Barbara for 15 years.
Luciano is survived by his sons, Ralph Gomez of Lompoc, Frank Gomez of Lompoc, and Henry Gomez of Santa Barbara; his sisters, Carmen Chavez and Juana, and his brothers, Pancho Gomez, Ezequiel Gomez, and Arturo Gomez, all of Mexico City, Mexico; one grandson, Nicholas Gomez; and numerous nieces and nephews of Mexico City, Mexico.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2007, from 4 to 8 PM and a vigil service will be held at 7 PM in the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary in Lompoc with Tom Robbins officiating.
