LUCILE MARIA DEBOLT –nee REGIMBAL
1917-2008

Lucile DeBolt passed away peacefully on May 16, 2008 in Lompoc, California. Lu was born October 31, 1917 in Portland, Oregon to Joseph Ernest and Emma Loretta Regimbal while her father was attending dental school. The family subsequently settled in Yakima, Washington, where they raised their four children. Lu graduated from St. Joseph's Academy High School in 1934 and went on to graduate from Seattle College in 1938. She worked for Seattle First National Bank in Yakima during the war years.

On November 11, 1944 she married J. Dene DeBolt in Yakima. They lived in New York City and Bremerton, WA for a short time while Dene was in the Navy. They settled in Lompoc at the end of 1945 and raised their six children in a house they built with a group of Johns-Manville co-workers.

Lu worked for the Lompoc Unified School District as an attendance clerk for 14 years until her youngest child graduated from college. She enjoyed playing bridge, was a talented oil painter, seamstress, piano player, an excellent cook and an avid gardener. She played golf as a regular member of the Nine-Holers at the Village Country Club. Lu was a den mother for Cub Scouts Packs 62 and 64 and a co-leader for the Bluebirds and Campfire Girls. She was a whiz at crossword puzzles, having studied several languages throughout her life. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross for over 10 years working at the Lompoc Convalescent Care Center and also volunteered for many years for Catholic Charities in Lompoc. She and Dene traveled extensively and loved visiting their grown children and the grandchildren who were scattered around the country. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America, P.E.O.-Chapter Nu, and the Sewing Club.

Lu was preceded in death by her son, Bob DeBolt, her sister Phyllis Axley, brothers George and Joe Regimbal as well as her parents. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Dene, daughters Rita (Glen) Hendershot, Silver Spring, MD, Mary Lu DeBolt, Santa Barbara, and sons Richard (Maureen), San Jose, Mike (Sara), The Dalles, OR and Joe (Vicky), Lompoc, plus 10 wonderful grandchildren and 11 delightful great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the outstanding caregivers at the Lompoc Convalescent Care Center who were so kind to her in her final years.

Visitation will take place Wednesday, May 21, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary, with Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday, May 22, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at La Purisima Concepcion Catholic Church with Father Tom Cook presiding. Burial will follow at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
