Lucille was born in Skiatook, Oklahoma but moved to California as an infant. She attended school through high school graduation in Tulare, California. Lucille moved to Lompoc when she married Robert Matlack in 1945. When Bob retired from Johns-Manville, Lucille also retired from Lompoc Unified School District where she worked for many years in the Lompoc High School Library and Text Book Room. During her adult life Lucille was very active in the Lompoc Camp Fire Girls, the Lompoc Rebekah Lodge #139 and the First Presbyterian Church. She and husband Bob loved to travel, making many trips to Alaska, Canada, and Arizona with their fifth wheeler, and spending time in nearby Heritage Ranch with friends and family. Besides traveling Lucille loved to bake. With Bob's help, holiday time meant dozens of different homemade candies for family and friends.
A memorial and celebration of Lucille's life is planned for Thursday, June 18th at 1:00PM at the First Presbyterian Church, Lompoc. The celebration will continue immediately afterwards at the home of Bob and Lucille. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Lompoc Meals on Wheels in Lucille's name.
