Obituary

Lucy Mae McCabe was born in Manti, Utah on November 2, 1923, and passed away on March 4, 2024, in Lompoc California. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who was loved by all who knew her.

She lived in Salt Lake City, Utah and Boise, Idaho during her elementary school years, and moved to California while in high school where she lived with her aunt, Reva Jensen. That was the chain of events that led her to Lompoc where she met her future husband, Stan McCabe. She later moved to Manti and finished high school there.

During WWII she worked in a parachute factory. After that she worked as an x-ray technician in Sacramento, and it was during that time she renewed her relationship with Stan McCabe.

Lucy and Stan were married on September 1, 1946, in Lompoc, and raised their two daughters there.

Lucy loved being a mother, and her extended family and friends were an important part of her life. She was a member of the PEO and enjoyed working in her yard, playing cards and dancing. She liked traveling and was famous for making and sharing cookies with everyone.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents Lorenzo and Lucille Kimball, her brother Lorenzo Kent Kimball, and her husband Stan McCabe. She is survived by her daughters Marilyn Branthwaite (Terry), and Margie Hinson (David); five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her dearly.

Lucy's memorial services will be held March 12, 2024, at 10:30 at the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary in Lompoc. All are welcome to share in this time of honoring Lucy.
