Obituary

Luisa (Lucy) Lagunzad Williams

October 1928 – August 22, 2021

Luisa (Lucy) Williams born October 1928 in Philippines.  She is preceded in death by her husband Cephas "Willie" Williams Sr, parents Angeles and Luis Lagunzad and siblings Cresensiano, Anunciasion, Prudencio, and Marciano.

Luisa was a loving and devoted wife and mother.  Cephas and Luisa were wed Dec 1953 and were blessed with five children: Cephas Jr, Juel, Wayne, Kym, and Karen, and including sons-in-law Setrige and John and daughters-in-law Lissette and Ana as well as four grandchildren Taisha, Tarin, Jason and Cristina.

After graduating from high school in her hometown of Dulag she earned a degree in Cosmetology in Angeles City outside of Clark Air Base, Philippines.  The Williams family traveled the world like many families in the US military. US bases the family resided were Minot AFB North Dakota, Vandenberg AFB California, and Clark AFB Philippines.  Cephas eventually retired from the Air Force in 1970 and settled the family in Lompoc California.

While in the Unites States, Luisa never forgot about her family in the Philippines. She sent many 'bulikbuyan' boxes home to the Philippines that included gifts and necessities for the families of her siblings and cousins. She often took her children and grandchildren back to visit the family home and connected with love ones back in her village. She was a loving friend who often visited sick friends bringing them freshly made meals and visiting them in the skilled nursing facilities. She was always being of service to her family and to her community.

Luisa was a long time member of the Catholic Church and the Lompoc Valley Philippine American Club.  She was a firm believer in hard work which she showed in 20 years of working at the base mess halls as a cook at Minot and Vandenberg Air Force Bases. She encouraged her children to get an education and work hard to have a good life.

Luisa has many friends and family in the Lompoc Valley.  Her favorite past time was going to bingo where she loved to yell "BINGO!" while playing several cards simultaneously and she often won! Luisa would be described by her family and friends as loving, kind, generous, consistent, reliable, and having a wonderful sense of humor and was just a beautiful individual. After a full and satisfying life of 92 years Luisa Williams is laid to rest as she is welcomed in heaven by her husband Cephas Williams Sr. of over five decades of marriage. She smiles on us from above forever living vivaciously in our hearts, never to be forgotten. Heaven has gained another Angel!

The family of Luisa L. Williams wishes to acknowledge the many expressions of love and kindness shown to them during the time of bereavement.  Celebration of Life is Sep 9.

Luisa left us a Legacy of Love,

asking for so little,

but giving so much,

gracefully touching the lives of many,

always loved, never forgotten.
