Luz Marta Lopez passed away peacefully at her home in Lompoc, California on June 22, 2026, at the age of 93. Luz was born on July 19, 1932, in Chihuahua, Mexico to Adalberto and Natividad Ontiveros Marta.

Luz met her husband Roel Lopez in Santa Ynez, California through Roel’s sisters. The two married on January 1, 1959. They shared 6 children; Roy (Lisa), Bert (Lisa), David, Anna Lopez, Virginia (Alex) Zubia, and Veronica Romero. They shared 39 years of marriage before Roel’s passing in 1998.

Luz was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed caring, loving and feeding her family, whether that was knitting each grandchild a baby blanket, or making her famous tamales. She was the matriarch of the Lopez family and will be deeply missed by many.

Luz will be laid to rest next to her husband at Oak Hill Cemetery in Ballard, California.
