Obituary

On Thursday, March 26, 2009, Lynda Shelton moved to a new destination on the journey of souls.

Born in Flint, Michigan, on January 8, 1945, to Wilbur and Geneva (Humphrey) Kitto, Lynda resided there until age 17.

At age 15 Lynda met and later married her best friend and soul mate, Gary Shelton, of Anderson, Indiana, where they made their home until his death in 1992.

Lynda's life was filled with love and adventure, including her dream to travel to Egypt with other members of Astare and its founder, Dr. Robert Chaney. Lynda was a life-long, third generation Astarian, following in the footsteps of her late grandmother, Edna Humphrey.

Lynda was a numerologist for more than 30 years with a clientele from most of the 50 states and Canada. She also taught Metaphysics in Anderson, Indiana, for 10 years.

Lynda had many hobbies, but dogs were her passion next to politics. She was involved with Richland Precinct Committee for 12 years and was a Democratic candidate for Justice of the Peace in 1974. She loved crafts, oil painting, and traveling.

Lynda relocated to Santa Barbara and later to Lompoc, CA, to spend her life near the scenic wonders of the mountains and blue Pacific Ocean of the Central Coast.

Lynda is survived by her brother, David Ferris, of Harrisburg, PA; son, David Christopher Kitto; niece, Jenna Ferris, of Harrisburg, PA; grandchildren, Amber Shelton, Tara Marie Shelton, Josiah Ferris and Michael Smith; great nephew Elias Ferris of New Cumberland, PA; and by her family of choice. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Shelton, and her parents, Wilbur and Geneva Kitto.

A memorial potluck service is planned for April 5, 2009 at 1pm at Miguelito Park. Please bring a side dish and desserts. For information call Malinda Whittemore, 805-264-6151, or Marlene Kuma, 805-714-6585. Donations in her honor can be made to support the American Cancer Society of Santa Maria Chapter.
