Obituary

Dr. Lyndon Wayne Drewlow, 72, of Lompoc, California died on March 8, 2016 in California. A memorial service will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church on Thursday, March 17th, at 2 pm, with a memorial service in Breckenridge, Minnesota at a later date.

Lyndon was born on April 8, 1943 in Breckenridge, Minnesota to Reinhart and Florence (Zarling) Drewlow. He grew up in Nordick Township in Wilkin County. He attended a one room school in Nordick Township. In 1961 he graduated from Breckenridge High School. During his youth he was a dedicated 4H and FFA member. After high school he attended North Dakota State University where he received his Bachelors' Degree in Horticulture. He continued his education at the University of Minnesota, St. Paul campus where he completed his doctorate in floriculture.

Lyndon went on to work for various plant companies in California and Ohio, developing New Guinea Impatient, poinsettias and kalanchoes. He held many patents for his work. He is best known as Dr. Point and the developer of the Polar Bear poinsettia.

Through his work, Lyndon became an avid traveler where he enjoyed meeting people and learning about other cultures. After his retirement, Lyndon spent hours volunteering at his church, Bethany Lutheran, visiting with friends and family and tending his beautiful flowers. He was a loyal North Dakota State University fan, always proud to wear Bison green and gold. Lyndon kept in touch with his roots with his yearly visit to the family farm where he spent time reading and visiting with family. Lyndon loved attending fairs in California and Minnesota, especially the Minnesota State Fair.

Lyndon is survived by his sisters Marlys (Don) Balfour, Harwood, ND, Beth (Dennis) Beyer, Breckenridge MN and his brother Milan (Laurie) Drewlow, Breckenridge, MN.; three nieces and three nephews and ten great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Reinhart and Florence Drewlow.
