Klapakis

Mable June Klapakis, 98, of Lompoc, peacefully passed away on 12 February 2025 at the home of her son Jeff Klapakis.
June was born March 30 1926 in Kemmer, Wyoming to Elsworth Colton Hardy and Mary Elizabeth Reece Hardy. She was raised and educated in Vernal and Price, Utah, where she graduated from Carbon High School. She was married to C/MST Philip Klapakis for 58 years. She served faithfully as a teacher and mentor for over 30 years, believing Education was the greatest honor in life. She had a Bachelor (Cal Poly) and Master's (Pepperdine) Degree in Education. She was a teacher and Principal on Guam before receiving her degrees, and then went on to become a renowned first grade teacher and elementary readiness tester in the Lompoc Unified School District. After retiring she was President of the Lompoc Republican Party and mentor to many teachers in the Lompoc Unified School District.
She is now in the hands of God with her husband Phil, her parents- Elsworth and Mary and sisters Frances and Mary along with her daughters-in-law Donna and Janis, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include her sister, Joanne Thomson, daughter, Elizabeth Ann Conrado, of South Carolina.; sons, Philip, of Honolulu, and Jeffery, of Lompoc; granddaughters, Yvonne Gillett, Dana Conrado-Neron and Kasi Ennis; four great-grandchildren, Macy Stankevitz, Philip Neron, Olivia and Asher Ennis; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
June lived a wonderful life and would often entertain her family with stories of growing up during the Great Depression. In addition to her own family, June helped raise many children who went through her first-grade classes over the years. June made a great difference in the lives of others – a life well lived!
Per her request there will be no service. June will be interned, with her husband, at the Lompoc Cemetery memorial wall. Memorials may be made at a website setup by the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary in Lompoc.
