Long-time Santa Barbara resident, Malcolm McCabe, passed away Friday morning. He was 84.
Malcolm was born in Lompoc on July 3, 1923, and graduated from Lompoc High School in 1941. He attended UCSB, but his education was interrupted while Malcolm served in the US Army during World War II. After the war, Malcolm completed his undergraduate degree and then went on to pursue a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California. He was a long-time employee of Santa Barbara County's Welfare Department and retired after many years of service.
Malcolm is survived by his nephew, Dr. James McCabe Morris of San Mateo, his nieces, Nancy Morris Willey of McCall, Idaho, and Jean Morris Mitchell of Santa Barbara.
A memorial service will take place in February. In lieu of flowers, donations in Malcolm's honor may be made to Pacific Pride Foundation or to the Music Academy of the West.
