Marcial William Guerra passed away peacefully November 16, 2017 in Lompoc, California. He was born in Miami, Arizona and moved to Portola with his family in his formative years. He graduated from Portola High School. There after he joined the Marine Corps serving honorably during the Korean War. Following his military service, he entered college and graduated with a Bachelor degree in Spanish from Chico State College and National University of Mexico. He received his Masters degree in Linguistics from the University of New Mexico. He returned to Cal State University, Chico to earn his administration and counseling credential. He married Adela Mendoza and had two children, Robert and Irene Renee. He served his community as an educator and school administrator in Redding, California and finishing his career in education within the Lucia Mar Unified School District. He taught Spanish and French. He cherished the interactions he had with his students, his grandchildren and friends. He spent his retired years following his grandchildren sports and education. He was a great storyteller, always with a twinkle in his eyes. He was a member of the Santa Maria Elks #1538, Pismo Beach Moose #1409.
He had a passion for the old west movies, history, music, languages, and horses.
He is survived by his daughter Irene Renee Mack, son-in-law Morgan Mack and his son Robert and daughter-in-law Thelma Guerra, along with his six grandchildren; Travis, Wesley, Chelsea, Geoffrey, Dylan and Rylie.
Funeral services are scheduled for 9:00 am on December 16, 2017 at La Purisima Catholic Church.
