Margaret Grace (French) LaMar passed away on May 12, 2017. She was 67 years old, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Margaret, known to many as Maggie, or Mrs. LaMar to her students, had a love for skiing, and teaching children. She taught in public education for many years, and retired as a kindergarten teacher at Crestview Elementary on Vandenberg Air Force Base. She also enjoyed participating in clubs, and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Retired Teachers Association, and the Wailers Ski Club.
Margaret was a ski instructor in Jackson Hole Wyoming in her younger years, and often talked about her time in Wyoming fondly.
She had a genuine love for people, and was loved by all who knew her. She is greatly missed, and her joy and kindness will never be forgotten.
Margaret is preceded in death by her mother, Ruth (Yerkes) French Mosley, her father, Robert French Sr., her older brother Robert French Jr., and her younger sister Catherine (French) Smith. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Dennis LaMar, daughter Kelly LaMar, Niece April (French) Maloney with husband Dean Maloney, great nieces Jillian and Nora Maloney, Nephews Adam and Wesley Smith, and Niece Sasha Smith.
Margaret was a member of the Lompoc First Presbyterian Church, 1600 Berkeley Drive, where her memorial service will be held by family and friends on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 1pm. Please come and remember Margaret as the beautiful, kindhearted woman we all knew and loved.
