Margaret L. Kalin passed on November 7, 2019, at age 102 years with her daughter Phyllis and son-in-law Bill at her side. Margaret was born in Salinas, California, on June 6, 1917. At age 3, her family moved from Salinas to Lompoc to a farm that was located near West Central Avenue and Douglas Avenue. She always referred to it as "down in the valley." Margaret graduated from Lompoc High where she met Lloyd Kalin and they married on June 28, 1935. Margaret lived in many different places in California as Lloyd was a cowboy and loved working on various ranches. In the early 1970's, they moved back to the Lompoc area that they both loved. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd of 64 years, a son Ronald Kalin and daughter-in-law Mary Kalin, grandson Michael Hadsell, parents Guy and Margaret canfield, brothers Clarence Lawrence, Albert and Clifford Canfield. She is survived by daughters Patricia Crawford (Harold), Phyllis Claudio (Bill Mackins), grandchildren Dan Kalin (Michele), Jeanne McAllister (Tim), Jodi Lusiani and Rex Kalin. She has 5 great grandchildren, numerous great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She saw many changes in her lifetime. Everything from a horse and buggy to men on the moon (she said that would never happen because men didn't belong on the moon). She even learned to use a computer, email to keep in contact with her family and a cell phone. At 101 years of age, she was given a set of colored pencils and an adult coloring book. She loved "staying in the lines at 101." She was a one of a kind lady with a great sense of humor and a terrific Christian role model to her family and friends. She leaves a big hole in our hearts and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

The funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, November 16, 2019, at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. A celebration of life will follow at Events Mission Valley, 138 North B St., Lompoc, CA 93436. The private interment will take place at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
