Margaret Mary Powell was born on February 19, 1924 in Scramoge, County Roscommon, Ireland.  She left quietly on June 16, 2018.  She died from complications related to a fall she sustained.

Margaret was one of eight siblings.  She moved to England when she was 26 to pursue her dream of nursing, and where she met her husband, James of 55 years.  They ultimately returned to the United States where she became an American Citizen on July 28, 1966.

They raised a family of five children, Jim Powell of Omaha, Nebraska, Margie Walraven (Roger) of Maud, Texas, Beverly Eberling (Martin), Richard Powell, Charles Powell (Lyla) all of Lompoc and a nephew Bill Long (Maureen) of Fresno.  They moved around the country to various Air Force Bases and ultimately her husband, retired from Vandenberg Air Force Base in 1975, with the family remaining in Vandenberg Village.

Margaret was a devoted housewife and devout Catholic, raising their five children.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband James in 2006, and her beloved grandson James Eberling in 2016, her parents and six siblings.

She leaves behind her children and their spouses, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild.  Also, one sister, Cathleen Gavigan McBride who still lives in Ireland and various nieces and nephews.

Margaret lived a simple life, loved her children and their off-spring.  She loved her garden and was especially fond of her roses.

Services will be Thursday, June 21 at 10 am at Queen of Angels Catholic Church.
