Margaret "Peg" Gwynn Purkey was born in Barnstable, Massachusetts on August 2, 1943, and passed February 12, 2024, peacefully at the age of 80, surrounded by family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Charlotte Converse; husband Jimmie Purkey; daughter, Charlotte Wright and her stepson Kent Purkey.  She is survived by her brother Clark Converse and his wife Rene of Dade City, FL; her son, James Wright and his wife Georgia of Henderson NV; her daughter, Susan Sanchez and her husband Joe of San Diego, CA; her stepchildren, Jimmie C. Purkey and his wife Ida of Williston, ND, Brad Purkey of Wichita, KS, and Julie Leonard of Wichita, KS, She also has12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Peg spent her childhood growing up on Cape Cod. She moved to Lompoc, California in 1971 and spent the next 52 years here where she met and married her husband Jimmie in 1978.  Together, the Purkey's volunteered for many years as leaders in the Cub Scouts (Boy Scouts of America) and administered a local Al-Anon Group here in Lompoc.  Peg was also a past member in the Order of the Eastern Star and acted as an advisor and mentor to the local International Order of the Rainbow for Girls.

As her nature was to care for others, especially children, she was able to create a very successful in-home daycare service.  She was in the business so long that she took care of her daycare children's children!  She was loved so much that several of her day-care children and grandchildren stayed in touch with her until her death!

The visitation will be at Starbuck-Lind Chapel on Sunday, Feb 25th from 5:00-7:00 pm and again on Monday, Feb 26th from 12:00-1:00 pm

The Service at Starbuck-Lind Chapel will begin on Monday, Feb 26th at 1:00 pm.  Reception to follow at Starbuck-Lind Event Center from 2:00-5:00 pm
