Bea passed away peacefully in Lompoc, California on June 19, 2010. Born in Limon, Colorado on July 17, 1927, she lived in Lompoc for over 50 years and worked at the Solvang Lutheran Home as a dietician. Bea loved to spend time with family and friends. She enjoyed camping, collecting dolls, quilting, reading and watching her granddaughter's softball games. Bea touched the lives of many and will be missed dearly.



She was preceded in death by husband Alvin "Bill" Howell, her parents Douglas Nelson and Mary Wise, and her oldest sister Elsie Dewey. She is survived by her two daughters Dana McDonough (Pat) and Gina Schneider (Jeff); grandchildren, Kristine Tennyson, Ashley Gilligan, Patrick, Mathew, Jacqueline and Madeline McDonough, Genie Padilla and Gavin Schneider; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Logan Roza, Kaylee Gaynor, Patrick Gilligan, Emmalilly Tennyson and Valencia-Eve Padilla; brothers and sisters, A.V. Nelson, her twin sister Beaulah Warden, Dan Nelson, Tom Nelson, Frank Nelson, Dessie Lightner along with numerous nieces and nephews.



Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Tuesday June 29, 2010 at 11:00 am at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary, 123 North A Street, Lompoc. Interment will follow at Lompoc Cemetery District, 600 South C Street. Immediately following interment there will be a reception at the Valley of the Flowers Half-Century Club, 341 North N Street, Lompoc.
