With profound love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of María Arellano, who was born on November 24, 1933, in La Ceja, in the municipality of García de la Cadena, Zacatecas, Mexico. She was the beloved daughter of Andrea Prieto and Teófilo Arellano, and the second of fourteen children. Her siblings were Herminia Arellano, Santos Arellano, Adela Arellano (the first), Rutilia Arellano, Eliza Arellano, Urfelia Arellano, Manuel Arellano, Salvador Arellano, Ignacio Arellano, Adela Arellano (the second), Modesto Arellano, Juan Arellano, and Samuel Arellano.

From an early age, María learned the values of hard work, sacrifice, and perseverance. Raised in a small rural community, she helped her parents with household responsibilities, cared for her younger siblings, and worked alongside her family in the fields. These experiences shaped the strong character, humility, and selfless spirit that would define her throughout her life.

At the age of twenty, she married José M. Guzmán, and together they built a loving family. They were blessed with seven children: Santos Guzmán, Manuel Guzmán, Nicolás Guzmán, Guadalupe Guzmán, Amelia Guzmán, Ismael Guzmán, and Aurora Guzmán. Her children were the greatest joy of her life and the driving force behind her unwavering dedication, tireless work, and unconditional love.

In 1965, María and her family moved to Guadalajara, Jalisco, where she devoted herself to raising her children while working tirelessly to provide them with every opportunity for a better future.

In 1989, eager to be closer to most of her children, María moved to Santa Barbara, California. In 1996, she settled in Lompoc, California, where she remained surrounded by the love of her family for the rest of her life.

María was an exceptional woman—hardworking, selfless, humble, and deeply devoted to God. Nothing brought her greater happiness than the well-being of her children and loved ones. Her unconditional love, quiet strength, unwavering faith, and boundless generosity touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

Although her passing leaves an immeasurable void in our hearts, she also leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, sacrifice, and devotion to family that will continue to inspire generations to come. She was blessed with a large and loving family, leaving behind as her greatest treasure her "Stars"—23 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren—who will continue to honor her memory and live by the values she so lovingly taught them.

María's life was a beautiful testament to perseverance, compassion, and unconditional love. Her memory will forever remain a guiding light and a source of strength for all who were blessed to know her.

Rest in peace, dear María. Your Stars of Zapopan love you, miss you deeply, and will continue to shine in your honor. Your love, your faith, and your wisdom will live forever in our hearts.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026 from 4-8pm at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary Chapel, the graveside service will take place on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 11 am at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.

Con profundo amor y gratitud, celebramos la vida de María Arellano, quien nació el 24 de noviembre de 1933 en La Ceja, municipio de García de la Cadena, Zacatecas, México. Fue la amada hija de Andrea Prieto y Teófilo Arellano, y la segunda de catorce hermanos. Sus hermanos fueron: Herminia Arellano, Santos Arellano, Adela Arellano (la primera), Rutilia Arellano, Eliza Arellano, Urfelia Arellano, Manuel Arellano, Salvador Arellano, Ignacio Arellano, Adela Arellano (la segunda), Modesto Arellano, Juan Arellano y Samuel Arellano.

Desde muy temprana edad, María aprendió el valor del trabajo, el sacrificio y la perseverancia. Creció en una pequeña comunidad rural, donde ayudó a sus padres con las responsabilidades del hogar, cuidó de sus hermanos menores y trabajó junto a su familia en las labores del campo. Estas experiencias forjaron el carácter fuerte, la humildad y el espíritu de entrega que la distinguieron a lo largo de toda su vida.

A los veinte años contrajo matrimonio con José M. Guzmán, con quien formó un hogar. Juntos fueron bendecidos con siete hijos: Santos Guzmán, Manuel Guzmán, Nicolás Guzmán, Guadalupe Guzmán, Amelia Guzmán, Ismael Guzmán y Aurora Guzmán. Sus hijos fueron la mayor alegría de su vida y la inspiración que impulsó su incansable dedicación, su esfuerzo constante y su amor incondicional.

En 1965, María y su familia se trasladaron a Guadalajara, Jalisco, donde se dedicó a la crianza de sus hijos mientras trabajaba incansablemente para brindarles un mejor futuro y contribuir al bienestar de su familia.

En 1989, con el deseo de estar más cerca de la mayoría de sus hijos, María se mudó a Santa Bárbara, California. En 1996 estableció su residencia en Lompoc, California, donde permaneció rodeada del amor de su familia durante el resto de su vida.

María fue una mujer ejemplar: trabajadora, abnegada, humilde y profundamente devota de Dios. Nada le brindó mayor felicidad que el bienestar de sus hijos y de sus seres queridos. Su amor incondicional, su fortaleza silenciosa, su fe inquebrantable y su inmensa generosidad dejaron una huella imborrable en la vida de todos los que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerla.

Aunque su partida deja un vacío inmenso en nuestros corazones, también nos deja un legado de amor, fe, sacrificio y entrega a la familia que continuará inspirando a las generaciones venideras. Fue bendecida con una familia numerosa y amorosa, y deja como su mayor tesoro a sus “Estrellas”: 23 nietos y 26 bisnietos, quienes continuarán honrando su memoria y viviendo de acuerdo con los valores que ella les enseñó con tanto amor.

La vida de María fue un hermoso testimonio de perseverancia, compasión y amor incondicional. Su recuerdo permanecerá para siempre como una luz que guía nuestros pasos y una fuente de fortaleza para todos los que fuimos bendecidos con su presencia.

Descansa en paz, querida María. Tus Estrellas de Zapopan te quieren, te extrañan profundamente y seguirán brillando en tu honor. Tu amor, tu fe y tus enseñanzas vivirán para siempre en nuestros corazones.

Una visitacion se llevara acabo Jueves, 23 de julio del 2026 de 4-8pm en la capilla de Starbuck-Lind Mortuary, el entierro se llevara acabo Viernes, 24 de julio a las 11am en el Cementerio de Lompoc.
